As an accredited Mental Health First Aid instructor, we offer the Adult 2-day course in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), equipping staff across all workplaces to recognise the signs and symptoms of poor mental health and know how to offer initial support to the individual.
What will you learn?
Over the two days, we will build your knowledge of the signs and symptoms present in those experiencing in a mental health illness, learning how to listen, reassure and respond even in crisis- potentially stopping a crisis from happening. You’ll develop confidence and learn new skills to approach and support someone experiencing poor mental health. The course also aims to help delegates recognise and manage their own mental health, reduce stigma and discrimination and create an action plan for maintaining a mentally healthy workplace. The content of the 2-day Adult course is embedded within a workplace context, meaning it’s relevant to apply with staff and colleagues. Each delegate is awarded a certificate upon completion of the two days, recognising them as a qualified mental health first aider, able to offer initial support to individuals experiencing symptoms of poor mental health.
Our courses run with a minimum of 8 delegates and a maximum of 16. We offer the courses in-house or at an external venue, and open courses for individuals to book onto. So if you only have a couple of staff interested in the training or if you’re an individual interested in the training for yourself, we have options for you to receive the training.
How will this impact your workplace?
Mental ill health costs UK employers £34.9 billion each year, in reduced productivity, sickness absence and staff turnover. We know that staff wellbeing is a significant part of having a happy, healthy and productive workforce. Having a number of staff trained as mental health first aiders, means they can be the ‘go-to’ people for other staff in your organisation to speak to if they’re feeling they need support with their mental health. Having an open environment to discuss mental health in your organisation creates a supportive culture for maintaining staff mental wellbeing. Having Mental Health First Aiders in your organisation means early signs and symptoms of poor mental health in employees is recognised and support is provided early, usually leading to a faster recovery.
For companies interested in finding out more about the 2-day course, we offer a 1-hour taster session at your premises to experience what Mental Health First Aid entails. If you have a group of staff ready to train on the 2-day course, contact us to book your course.
